When our kids come to visit we clean the house… when our grand-kids come to visit it is a whole different story! There is a list two pages long of the things we need to get done before our grand-kids come next month. I think there is a cerebral change in a grandmother when she has grandchildren… children are no longer a focus (sorry kids!), all efforts are focused on the next generation!
When Jeanie wanted to get a kitchen set for her grandchildren I thought, OK, as long as she puts it together I can live with that! It wasn’t until we got it home that things started to get out of hand…

It was clear that this was not just a matter of putting the thing together! It had to match our kitchen!?!?!?! Sections had to be painted; the counter had to match our quartz counter tops; the handles and faucets had to be painted to match ours; a back-splash had to be added and then had to be tiled and grouted; she made miniature wash-towels and pot holders and bought miniature cooking utensils, pots, pans, vegetables, fruits, clock, plant, etc.
I was just happy that she didn’t ask me to hook up plumbing and electricity…

Now maybe we can get back to the real projects…
Haha that is so funny!!! Looks nice though:) makes me want a play kitchen!
several people have had the same comment – toys weren’t so “real” when I was a kid!
