We bought the farm in May of last year. It often seems like we are not making much progress, but, when we look at the pictures from a year ago and consider that we have probably been gone 2 – 3 months of that time, things are looking pretty good… about two more years to go…

Since then, things have changed a bit! With the help of the “Bad Boy” and other assorted tools we have about 2.5 miles of trails on the property, a shooting range, a fire-pit, and two meadows. Now I am mowing about 5 acres instead of 2… Here are a few of the pics…

And of course there is the outside of the house…

There is a whole lot more, but I don’t have time to find all the pictures and put them in here… It has been an amazing year – Can’t wait to see what my wife does with the place this next year!
Such an incredible transformation,
Thanks! It has been an amazing year and we are only 1/3 of the way done. Once we are done it will be a spectacular property!
Oh so much work but wow! What a change. It’s absolutely beautiful !!
Thanks! And much more work to go…
Reblogged this on We bought the farm, now we gotta live on it!.
I am such a fan, I love your posts, and I really love watching the progression of your home and property. So fun to watch you uncover and spruce up this hidden treasure! ……except the vultures and the bears! YIKES! Love to you two creative geniuses! XO

PS- You guys should have your own show on HGTV!! For reals. 😘
Great to hear from you Maria! You will have to come and visit when you are in this part of the country! Maybe during bear hunting season… 🙂
So inspirational! What you’re doing/accomplishing is exactly what we want to do, just haven’t found the right property (or it’s a zillion dollars 🙁 ). Looking forward to keeping up with your project!
Thanks so much! We had been looking for years, so when we found one that met our criteria we knew right away. The cost is a big problem with the great properties – we feel very lucky! I hope that you find the perfect property for you!
I must say to you guys, you did a yeoman’s job in resurrecting this diamond in the rough. My wife and I went through Harvey here in Kingwood, Tx. in August, 2017 (48 inches of water inside). With no flood insurance, we lived upstairs and after 23 months, were finally able to come downstairs to a jewel of a reconstruction project. Unlike you guys, we hired contractors but performed all of the purchasing and design work ourselves. Your masterpiece of sheer creativity left me speechless as I perused through each snapshot of your exceptional quality work. Enjoy this faith-driven fruit of your labor and may God bless you in all of your future re-creations.
Thanks so much for your kind comments! It sounds like you went through quite the ordeal with Harvey! We felt like we were camping out in this house for many months until a few key projects were done and sections of the house were more habitable! Sounds like you understand that situation! It is so nice to walk through the house and not feel like every room is a construction zone!
Please show finished house I will wait with bated breath it is my dream home you guys have found and soo beautifully restored. I too will find a home and I will be emailing for advice. Love & Peace
Thanks Laura! We will update the pictures soon as we make more progress. I look forward to seeing what you end up with!
You must have lots of patient, skills, determination and great imagination. To rebuild and renovate a huge compound like that needed solid determination and clear vision to what you want to achieve. I live in Libya. Used o be a great country with plenty of potential. Libya looks like what your house used to look. I wish we have people like you to rebuild it. You must be great couple as well. Are you good at cooking. A great meal after a hard day work is complete fulfilment. Thank you for showing us what can be done and achieved. The fruit of your hard labor.
I saw the job you did on your farm barn and it took my breath away God blessed you guys. Such wonderful designs. This Barn was waiting for you to give it anew life. Your dreams have come true. Be well Leah
Thanks so much!
