When we bought the farm I told my wife that we NEEDED a dump trailer… she thought I was crazy… Turns out it has paid for itself many times over! So far, we have taken 64,000 pounds of demolition materials to the garbage dump and we have taken at least 3 to 4 times that much to the green recycling dump. We have also taken several thousand pounds to the metal recycling center. Our house is looking pretty slim and trim these days…

Farewell to the railings on our front porches!

Do you wonder what happens to your trash after you put it out for the garbage man to take? I don’t! I spend a significant amount of time at the dump these days and I am quite familiar with what happens to your trash… Interesting fact – There are a lot of Vultures and seagulls (they seem to be lost… we are nowhere near the sea) at the garbage dump and the last time I went I saw a Bald Eagle.

We have also taken close to 100 loads of yard waste to the Chestnuthill Township green recycling center! It is a free service and we can also get free mulch when we need it… when we do, we get trailer loads as well!

The trailer is not just for hauling things away… we often use it to bring things from our home away from home… “Home Depot”… and to move big things around the property. I am planning to mill some lumber from the trees that we have taken down so we loaded them in the trailer and deposited them in a secure location for later use…

When my wife goes with me to the green dump I let her do the heavy lifting…
It also came in handy to haul the six thousand pounds of stone for the fire-pit… even though we got stuck in the mud coming up the hill!

I have come to the conclusion that every man should have a dump trailer! It’s good exercise!
