You might be thinking “What do visitors have to do with HGTV and The Office? If you keep on reading you will find out…

When we bought the farm we were excited to explore the area… since then we have been so busy that we haven’t seen much of anything. My brother and his family came to visit from California last weekend so we took 3 days off from our HGTV like lifestyle and just enjoyed the property and a few of the local attractions. It turns out there are a lot of fun things to do around here…

The first day we went bicycle riding on the Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail – we only went about 7 or 8 miles round trip but the trail is apparently about 60 miles long one way with spectacular views and hikes along the way…

Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail
There was a cool (in more ways than one) rail tunnel that we explored
Jim Thorpe
After the bike ride we had Lunch and Ice Cream at Jim Thorpe, PA
Matt and family went horseback riding … we went home to rest
We bought the farm shooting range
When they got home, shooting was next on the agenda!

We set up the range and found out we have some sharpshooters in the family! It was a first for the girls and when we asked what they wanted to do the rest of their stay, more shooting was on the top of the list…

Sunday was a little more mellow… we went to church, hiked our trails, used up some more ammunition, rode the scooter around the property, and finished the day with dinner at the fire-pit…

Matt had way too much fun on the scooter and we decided that he should never be allowed to buy a motorcycle!

Hot Dogs and S’mores at the fire-pit were the perfect end to a relaxing day!

For our last full day we decided to explore some more of this beautiful part of the country! You may be asking at this point what “The Office” has to do with this post? Well, this is where you find out… We are just 45 minutes away from one of the most famous cities in America… Scranton, PA… famous because it is the setting for “The Office”.

You may recall the “booze cruise” episode where they did a cruise on Lake Wallenpaupack just east of Scranton. We decided to check out the lake and skip the booze…

Lake Wallenpaupack
We explored the lake
Picnic on Wallenpaupack
We picnicked on a little island
Tubing on Wallenpaupack
and did plenty of tubing!

Wallenpaupak is gorgeous and we can’t wait to go back.

After dinner and ice cream we made one more stop at the The Old Mill, a military outpost built in 1779 just 10 minutes from the house…

Our time off was great… now it’s back to work! Time to Demo the Master Bathroom…
